Stranger makes nasty comment about daughter so dad quickly teaches him a lesson

Brent was carrying his 6-year-old daughter across the street when a stranger let his judgments speak first. He couldn’t have been more wrong.

Never ever judge a book by its cover. And never judge people when you don’t know their story. This story is a lesson for us all.

Real-life is never as it seems at first glance.

For parents taking care of a sick child that you can’t tell at first glance, sometimes they have to take time to teach that lesson to strangers who pass judgments before knowing the full story. Which if you are a parent this can be an extremely difficult task that requires a lot of patience and compassion.

For one dad, Brent Gehring, in Papillon Nebraska while he was out with his 6-year-old daughter he had to take a moment to decide whether he was going to teach a lesson or pick a fight when a stranger made a rude comment to him and his daughter.

The interaction…

Brent’s daughter, Emma, was diagnosed with a form of childhood brain cancer called pilomyxoid astrocytoma when she was just seven months old. Due to this condition, it is hard for Emma to get around without her walker so her father, friends, and family have to carry her from time to time.

When Brent and his family were out to dinner one night in Boston and he was carrying Emma across the street a man decided to yell out to them his disgust at what he was seeing. How the interaction went next was enough for Brent to post about it on Facebook which then went viral.

He recalls the moment the stranger yelled to him,

“My daughter and I were leaving dinner the other night at Union Oyster House in Boston, MA. A dinner donated to us by an amazing business and friend that has been in our “family” for years. When I crossed the street carrying her, she can’t walk without the use of her walker. A man yelled at me from 30’ away: “What the F*+k?” He yelled. “Make her walk. That’s what is wrong with kids today.”

Time to decide: scream at him or teach him a lesson?

As Brent has already been through enough taking care of his sweet little girl the last thing he needs as a parent is to be yelled out for simply carrying his child. Let alone the fact that Emma has been fighting a brain tumor receiving her seventh round of chemotherapy. So now Brent had to make a choice of how to handle the situation before him. He continues his post on Facebook recalling his decision,

“I had a choice to make at that time. Can I make myself feel better by screaming at him or can I teach him something about life? I won’t lie to you and tell you that it was an easy choice but I got inches from his face, with my daughter in my arms, and quietly asked him if he was referring to my daughter. “Hell yes,” he said.”

So Brent took a deep breath and decided to take this moment to share the story of his daughter as he held her in his arms.

“I responded with “My daughter has been carrying my faith and my strength for the past 5 years since she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She can’t walk but I am happy to carry her because of all the amazing things she has taught me through the years. So I would advise you not to address my daughter in any way other than respectful.”

Lessons of real-life and real love.

He finishes his post letting all those who read that the story didn’t just end there. The two men decided to sit down and have a conversation about real life and learning the lesson of not passing judgments onto others when we don’t know their full story.

“I won’t tell you the rest of the story but it ended with two grown men with tears rolling down their faces. One that needed to have his eyes opened to what real life and real love is and one that is always needing a reminder that good can come from any situation. This story is only important if it serves as a reminder that you don’t always know the whole story so don’t judge others.”

By Brent sharing this story with the world and taking a moment to show patience and compassion to one another even when it’s not shown to us it is another reminder, this is how we can help each other become better.

This one moment taught us so many lessons within itself although we cannot imagine how hard it was for Brent we are grateful he chose to share it with the world. Brent finishes his post with some more wise words for us to sit with,

“You have the power to make people’s days better or worse. What did you do today?? What will you do tomorrow??”

We could always practice a little more kindness in today’s world, don’t you think? Pass it on!

Special needs boy rejected at dance gets last laugh no one saw coming

Kylie stepped up when she heard Daniel couldn’t get a date to the dance. Because of her kindness, she received the greatest “thank you” ever – and it was all caught on film.

For a lot of 17-year-olds in high school, there’s nothing more exciting than the homecoming dance.

Daniel Rivas from Las Vegas really wanted to attend the annual event as well. There was only one problem, however. He didn’t have a date.

Daniel, who has Down syndrome, had asked a girl to be his date, but he was, unfortunately, rejected. Luckily, that’s when Kylie Fronius stepped in.

When Kylie heard her classmate needed a date, she immediately stepped up and asked him to homecoming.

“I don’t think of kids that have a disability as being different,” she told Fox5 Las Vegas.

“I think of them just being a normal person learning in a different way.

Daniel’s mother Tonya was touched and flabbergasted by the girl’s kindness.

“It’s not about that Daniel has a disability,” she said.

“It’s Kylie didn’t see any disability. That is what your heart wants as a mom.”

When Fox5 News caught wind of the story, they featured the teens in a broadcast that won over thousands of hearts.

“All you had to do was watch the news story you [Fox] aired, and you just saw a young lady with a huge heart, and she was inspirational,” said Don Foreman of United Nissan.

What the teens didn’t know, however, was that the station was also planning a giant surprise.

On the night of their homecoming dance, Kylie and Daniel were greeted by Monica Jackson, host of the Fox5 Surprise Squad.

Jackson and the squad had planned a series of surprises to help make the night one the two kids would never forget. First, the team sent a Rolls Royce so the couple could ride to the dance in style.

“Your story touched so many people,” Jackson told them.

Before the dance, the squad organized a dinner date at a high-class, local bistro.

Daniel’s mom Tonya breaks into tears, revealing she had never been able to afford to take her family to eat there.

When the kids get to the dance after their meal, they’re stunned to discover a red carpet waiting to lead them into the school.

Daniel and Kylie dance to the music for a while until the event is interrupted. “We’re not done,” Jackson announces, appearing on the auditorium stage.

First, Jackson gifts the teens and their families two free trips to Disneyland.

But, as you’ll soon discover, the station was just getting started…

Since being uploaded to YouTube, Fox’s amazing surprise has been viewed over 6.6 million times. You’re immediately touched by Kylie’s kindness and the video just gets better from there.

“All I can see is that this girl was raised real well. God bless her beautiful heart.”

“She has more class, moral fiber, and integrity than I’ve had in 54 years of life. Her only negative point is, she made me cry.”

“This is amazing. I watched this with tears in my eyes. We need more of this in the world.”

Daniel and Kylie’s evening would have been magical no matter what – but there were a number of big-hearted people that made it one for the storybooks instead.

Wife has ultrasound after 8 years of infertility, finds out she pregnant with more than 1 set of identical twins

After not being able to conceive for eight long years, this couple visited the doctor to find they’d be having more than one baby. “…it was pure terror and pure joy at the same time.”

The lovely couple Ashley and Tyson Gardner have always wanted to have kids, but it just seemed like it wasn’t meant to be for them. They’ve been struggling to conceive children for over eight years, and it’s been an incredibly stressful period for both of them.

Ashley and Tyson aren’t alone – it’s estimated that one in five couples have fertility issues.

However, Ashley and Tyson never gave up on their dream to expand their family.

The couple invested a large amount of their savings to be able to proceed with IVF therapy, which would be their only remaining choice to actually be able to conceive children. They went ahead with the procedure in July of 2014 and were understandably very nervous to find out whether or not the therapy would actually work.

They went through countless medical tests but were hopeful that it would actually have a positive outcome. Husband Tyson decided to film the moment that doctors would tell them if the IVF treatment was successful or not, just to see the reaction and happiness on his wife’s face. Hearing negative news was never an option for Tyson, the IVF simply had to work.

And it did work! The doctors then told her that she was expecting a child.

The couple was overjoyed and incredibly relieved. After eight long years, the Gardner family was about to welcome a new member.

Or at least, that’s what they assumed.

When Ashley got her first ultrasound image, they were in store for a much, much bigger surprise.

They expected to see their baby for the very first time, but the ultrasound revealed a whole lot more.

Even the doctors were completely astounded when they saw the image because there was not just one baby on the screen. Not even two or three, but no less than four!

Ashley was pregnant with four children, two identical sets of twins.

“When we first found out we were having quadruplets, it was pure terror and pure joy at the same time,” Ashley said on her website.

“The doctors said we only had a 40% chance of having one baby, so to have all four to come at once was a huge blessing and a huge miracle.”

The couple expected one child, and now they were getting four baby girls. Two fertilized eggs split up during conception, which is something that is extremely rare and only occurs once every 70 million times. From not being able to conceive at all to an extremely unlikely event like this – it has definitely been a rollercoaster ride for Ashley and Tyson.

The following nine months definitely weren’t easy and having to carry four children around was a very hefty task – but thankfully, the birth itself went relatively smooth without any major issues.

“But I didn’t know anyone who’d had quadruplets. I didn’t know if it was physically possible for a woman, I knew nothing about it. I had vertigo and morning sickness for the first 16 weeks. I couldn’t eat anything and I lost 20 pounds in my first trimester. My body hurt, my bones hurt and my hips would dislocate every time I rolled over.”

Before they knew it, the adorable and beautiful baby girls Scarlett, Evangeline, Indie and Esme were welcomed to the world.

The story of Ashley and Tyson is most definitely a very special one, and they’ve been featured in plenty of news media and television shows around the world, both before and after birth. The family is absolutely adorable and heartwarming.

The Gardner family has quite the following on social media, and the couple regularly gives updates on their daily lives with these adorable quadruplets. During the first few months, fans even brought clothing and baby supplies to help cover the hefty expenses for four children at the same time, which were costs that the couple obviously hadn’t foreseen.

“My heart was truly touched by the amount of nappies and baby outfits that turned up by our door when they were born,” Ashley said. “There really are amazing, kind, good people out there and I’m so grateful to those who follow our story and love these babies.”

One big happy family!

How I'm Getting Ready for Christmas: Creative Ideas

I collect yarn scraps. Whether it’s a tiny piece or a larger ball of yarn, I keep everything. When I’ve gathered a considerable amount, I use them to crochet colorful toys. My toys are quite large, about 50 cm / 20 inches tall, so I need a lot of yarn scraps. I particularly enjoy giving my toys quirky heads and long arms. This way, the colors and shapes come together to create a playful and attractive whole.

I have cat, dog, owl, fox, monkey, llama, and other patterns of my scrap yarn toys. But today I want to say “I am ready for Christmas”. I crochet beautiful deer with a Christmas color pullover. Green, white, and red always look Christmassy. And if it’s deer, it’s the perfect combination for the holidays.

I am ready for Christmas. And you?

Superheroes on the Line: A Story of Resilience

After battling illness, I received a life-changing diagnosis: scleroderma. My disabled hands left me devastated, taking away my ability to draw and communicate through sign language.

Determined to reclaim my creativity, I persevered. With two fingers and limited shoulder mobility, I adapted. My desk became my trusted ally.

Inspired by superhero movies, I conceived Superheroes on the Line – whimsical illustrations of heroes hanging laundry.

15 Festive Cross-Stitch Designs for Christmas Prep

As the festive season approaches, a feeling of warmth, joy and anticipation fills the air. One of my favorite ways to prepare for Christmas is through cross stitching.

It is a craft that has been passed down through generations, with roots dating back centuries. The beauty of cross stitching is its versatility: from simple patterns to intricate scenes, there is something for everyone. For me, the process of cross stitching becomes a meditative experience, allowing me to relax and focus on the present moment.

As Christmas approaches, I find great joy in creating symbolic gifts for my loved ones. There is something incredibly special about giving a gift that is handmade. Each piece I create has a personal touch, reflecting the time and effort I have put into it.

In a world dominated by mass-produced goods, handmade gifts stand out as unique treasures. They foster closer bonds between friends and family, reminding us that love and effort can be expressed through creativity.

As I prepare for Christmas this year, I am looking forward to diving into my cross stitch projects. Each stitch is not just part of a design, it is a labor of love that embodies my thoughts and feelings for those I care about.

Banksy's Graffiti at London Zoo: Iconic Street Art

Banksy always sparks a conversation with his artwork. Whether it might have a deep message or not at all, people are drawn to speculate on its meaning. Some of his most recent 9 artworks of zoo animals painted around London have definitely caught people’s attention.

It all started in August with a balancing goat, followed by two elephants, swinging monkeys, a howling wolf, pelicans eating fish, a big cat, piranhas, a rampaging rhino, and then crowned by a gorilla helping animals escape, drawn on the London Zoo gate.

Obviously, you may not find all of them in their original state anymore, as people have either drawn over them or taken the more portable pieces for themselves.

Vibrant Dog Portraits Showcasing Colorful Elegance

These colorful and vibrant canine portraits were created for a 2024 dog calendar. They have been on display in my clients’ houses all year. I’m often notified by the owners when it’s their dog’s month.

Each dog was chosen to represent a month and a color uniquely suited to them. From casting calls to the photoshoots to the arrival of the calendars, it took around two months to complete. The next time the calendars can be used is in 2052.
